Sound has the power to heal. On the physical level, Physical Therapists use ultrasound to treat pain, Nephrologists use lithotripsy to break-up kidney stones and now Neurologists in Australia are using ultrasound to help treat Alzheimers. Most of us have felt the healing power of sound while listening to music that opens our hearts to embrace whatever it is that we are feeling. Mantras are ancient and powerful sound combinations that sometimes have specific meanings (and sometimes don’t), but either way they can be beneficial. During this workshop we will practice a few sanskrit mantras together in a call and response style, so that we might feel the healing effects of mantras and to also help establish them in our minds. We will learn mantras for peace, joy, love, and balancing the energetic forces that are present in all that is manifest. We will also chant mantras for enlightenment and for healing, which are much longer and will require practice at home to master the pronunciation and memorization.
